Cervical screening

Don’t Fear The Smear!

Grosvenor Medical Centre currently has over 250 women between the ages of 25-64 who have not had a smear in the last 5 years.

Cervical screening saves the life of 4,500

women in England every year

Women screened between the ages of 35-64 are thought to have a 60-80% lower risk of being diagnosed with cervical cancer in the 5 years following the test, compared to women who haven't been screened. The test is free, quick and saves lives.

If you have received a letter inviting you for a smear test, please do not ignore it – book in with nurse Laura or nurse Jennie who will be happy to answer any questions you have or discuss any worries beforehand.

Cancer Research UK also has nurses who you can call freephone on 0808 8004040 or email via their website https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/ with any questions about cancer or the NHS cancer screening programmes
